Description: WSLS Media General’s NBC station, in Roanoke, VA seeks LOCAL SALES MANAGER to be responsible for managing, planning, directing, controlling and coordinating the overall local sales activities to meet and exceed established sales goals.
Responsibilities:
Prepares sales budgets and sales projections and displays a mastery of inventory control and pricing; has knowledge of traffic systems and sales reporting
Provides strong leadership and motivation to the station's sales force through strong management skills and hands-on coaching.
Generates revenue from WSLS, Me TV Roanoke, WSLS 10.2 GO and the WSLS digital suite of products, including WSLS.com, as well as other non-traditional sources.
Has a clear understanding of client-focused and solution based selling, as well as multi-level marketing solutions.
Maximizes and improves station's revenues through aggressive positioning, creative selling techniques and effective use of research.
Develops and maintains excellent market visibility (locally and regionally), enhances station' s relationships with the advertising agencies and the advertisers.
Keeps management current on all local sales activities and formulates strategies based on careful analysis and historical data.
Develops and oversees the ongoing training of the local sales team.
Is active in the station's community to support the General Sales Manager and serves as an effective spokesperson for the station in representing its presence and commitment to the community.
Bachelors Degree and sales knowledge or experience in multi-media environments. Prior experience in broadcast sales management preferred. Experience in Pilat, Matrix, Ad Builder, Share Builders & CSS helpful.
Must be profit oriented and exhibit a high level of focus by being goal oriented, innovative in overcoming obstacles relationship oriented,
a strong recruiter, able to focus on the big picture, able to embrace structure and be highly organized.
