    The position will oversee the sales efforts of WSLS 10, Roanoke's NBC affiliate and WJHL 11 Connects, Johnson City, TN's CBS affiliate. The Regional National Sales Manager will work with our national rep firms to grow market share and overall nationa business. The position will be based at WSLS in Roanoke, VA. Travel will be required to both markets as well as New York, Atlanta, and other areas to develop account relationships.

    The applicant should possess a solid track record of sales success in broadcast television, and should have a minimum of five years television sales experience at the station or national rep firm level. The ideal candidate must demonstrate and possess ability to effectively negotiate national business for each station, motivate and lead our national rep firm personnel, and cultivate relationships with key agency and client contacts.

    Description:  WSLS Media General’s NBC station, in Roanoke, VA seeks LOCAL SALES MANAGER to be responsible for managing, planning, directing, controlling and coordinating the overall local sales activities to meet and exceed established sales goals.

    Responsibilities:

  • Prepares sales budgets and sales projections and displays a mastery of inventory control and pricing; has knowledge of traffic systems and sales reporting
  • Provides strong leadership and motivation to the station's sales force through strong management skills and hands-on coaching.
  • Generates revenue from WSLS, Me TV Roanoke, WSLS 10.2 GO and the WSLS digital suite of products, including WSLS.com, as well as other non-traditional sources.

    Bachelors Degree and sales knowledge or experience in multi-media environments. Prior experience in broadcast sales management preferred. Experience in Pilat, Matrix, Ad Builder, Share Builders & CSS helpful.
